Does food service only cover lunch?

Yes. For the time being we only serve lunch. The service may cover the other courses in the future if needed.

How can I use the food service?

You can swipe your Student ID card to the machine in the lunch hall after inserting money into your card from the Cash Deposit Machine.

I lost my identity card. Is the amount of money that is loaded to my ID card zeroed?

No. Your balance amount of your old card will be transferred to your new card upon your request.

Health

Which health services can we benefit from?

You can get health services from both state and private health institutions. In addition, our university, signing bilateral protocols with some private health institutions, enables our students and our staff to benefit from the discounted health services. Among the health institutions that have been made agreement with includes:

• Lokman Hekim Hospitals,

• Ortadoğu Hospitals,

• Madalyon Psychiatry Center,

• Özkaya Medical Center,

• Miadent Oral and Dental Health Center

All Turkish citizen students can benefit from the insurance of their dependants (e.g., mother, father) during their higher education and as long as they do not exceed the age of 25. This is also relevant to part-time students, internship students and foreign students.

One of the greatest advantages of ASBU being located in Ulus is the various dormitory alternatives. Our students can stay in the dormitories of Credit and Dormitories Institution or private dorms.

Part-time Students (PTS)

What is the purpose of employing part-time students?

The purpose is to contribute to the upbringing of our students as productive individuals having gained work discipline by employing them at temporary jobs during their free time except class hours in line with their interests and abilities and by making it possible for them to have both income and practical skills.

Who is called a part-time student?

Students employed at temporary jobs at the academic and administratve units of our university and not counted as employees.

Who can work as a part-time student?

Our students not having disciplinary punishment and being enrolled in any of the undergraduate and graduate (except non-thesis and prep programs) programs and educated within the normal education and training period might work as a part-time student.

What kind of jobs is a PTS employed at?

Students are responsible for contributing to the administrators, officers and instructors for making the business and process to be carried out more efficiently without delay. Generally, they work at simple office work, work not requiring expertise or work related to the program they are enrolled in.

What kind of jobs can a PTS not be employed at?

Students cannot be employed primarily at student affairs and scoring as well as manual labour such as cleaning and carrying services.

What is the maximum working time per month?  

 Working time cannot exceed 7 hours per day, 15 hours per week and 60 hours per month.

What is the maximum wage I can get monthly?

Shall not exceed 1/4 of minimum wage.

Who arranges the working hours?

Distribution of the working hours to days of the week, and the starting and finishing times are determined by the administrator of the units.

Do the students work at the weekend/on holiday?

In accordance with the legislation, on national holidays and on days admitted as holiday  students are not required to work, however, when needed they are supposed to work upon the request of the administrator at the units which are open at the weekend, at night or on national holidays.

 Can I work at more than one unit?

No, you can't. It is not possible to work at two different units.

Would being a part-time student affect my scholarship?

Your scholarship will not be terminated when working as a part-time student at our university. See the law no. 2547 article 46(k).

I receive orphan's pension from Social Security Institution. Would my payment be terminated due to being a part-time student?

Orphan's pension will not be terminated when students work part-time.

Would being a part-time student affect my health insurance under parents?

Being a part time student would not terminate your general health insurance under parents. You can still get health insurance service under your parents.

When is the PTS recruitment?

Student recruitment is at the beginning of each academic year (October).

How can I apply for a job?

You can apply to the SKS unit by filling in the application form found in the Part-time student section at http://sks.asbu.edu.tr within the specified dates.

Who are the decision makers in PTS recruitment?

In the relevant units, the evaluation committee consisting of at least 3 members in the unit manager's presidency determines whether the applicants carry the conditions in Article 6 of this Directive, whether they receive a second scholarship or not, and  the decision is made considering the weekly course schedules as well. The actual and reserve candidates are determined based on the quota allocated for the unit. In case of leaving the job due to reasons such as the student’s quitting the job and terminating the contract, the reserve candidates are assigned for the remaining time.

What are the required documents to get started?

  1. Photocopy of identity card
  2. Student’s Certificate (current date approved)
  3. Two photos
  4. Health Report (available from community health centres)
  5. Proof of disciplinary action
  6. Forensic record
  7. The parent(s) and the student (current date) salary payroll and barcoded registration or a document (available on e-devlet) indicating that they are not working.
  8. Bank account information (from the bank to which the university has contracts)

When is the payment made?

The period between the 15th of the previous month and the 14th of the current month is considered to be a month. Your monthly salary for this period is paid to your bank account no later than the 1st of the month.

I have already worked as PTS at university. What am I required to do?

Our students who have already worked in our university need to apply for jobs in the announcements in order to work again.

I have a Green Passport. Is my passport cancelled when I work part-time?

As only the short term insurance branches (occupational accidents, occupational diseases and disease insurance) are applied as insurance premium, the ones who work as part-time students at our university do not lose their green passports.

Does working part-time affect my retirement?

As according to the provisions of the relevant law no long term insurance branches premium is paid for retirement of our students who have worked or who are going to work at our school as PTS, working part-time has no effect on retirement.

Can I get unemployment insurance when I leave work?

As no unemployment insurance Premium is paid according to the provisions of the relevant law, you cannot get unemployment insurance.
